Blackpill Skate Park update:
10.06.2020
Update.
All Good news, This is officially going ahead. funding in place, all boxes ticked. Lets go. See how long this takes now.
This re-development of the current Miniramp site has officially gone into planning. It generally takes 6/8 weeks for things like this to get the all clear, but there is a spanner in the works; a petition has been started to stop any new development from being started on Mumbles front.
Although the skatepark is not a new development, it could still fall under the same banner as some kind of hotel/flats/shopping "mall' style monstrosity. I mean I'd sign a petition to stop that happening, but this is something different and I hope the planners see it that way too.
I would Imagine if it got the all clear building work not start before the winter period, but this could all be ready for a 2 to 3 month build starting in the spring 2020 ready for the Japanese Olympic Games.
Proposed Park:
Low level, sticking to the same footprint of what is already there, not obstructing the view from any residential properties in the vicinity, serving more members of the skateboard/bmx/rollerskate/scooter community.
So, we have set up a counter petition to help make this happen to show just how much support/need there is for this skatepark in the local area. Please help us to get there, if you haven't already please sign the online petition.
Please take a moment to sign our petition to help get the updated facility we believe our community deserves. This is as close as Mumbles has ever come to having an innovative and contemporary skatepark. Every signature counts and helps moves this project from a plan to reality. Thank you for your support
